Bosch Hoek Golf CourseSituated in the Midlands and conveniently positioned near Balgowan, rated as one of the top golf courses in South Africa.Bosch Hoek Golf Course - situated in the Midlands ind the shadow of the Drakensberg Mountains and conveniently positioned near Balgowan. (Howick and Curry's Post are also nearby), it is rated as one of the top golf courses in South Africa.Bosch Hoek used to be a private course belonging to an industrialist by the name of Punch Barlow. It's rated as one of South Africa's top nine-hole layouts, if not the best, and bears the signature of Bob Grimsdell, who shaped its contours in the early Sixties. The course was only recently opened to the public. It's a compact and scenic layout with a lovely park-like feel to it. This is one layout that places a tremendous emphasis on accuracy and course management. However, more than the quality of the golf course, it's the friendly welcome of the staff and owners that is Bosch Hoek's true charm. The Course: The course measures only 5 840 metres, certainly on the short side when one considers that Bosch Hoek's elevation above sea level is about 1000m. The layout is rated a 68, but with the pins hidden away and the grainy cynoden greens speeded up, this would be a tough task for the scratch player. More importantly, no matter what the novice or expert golfer scores here, the round will certainly be one to remember. Contact 033 234 4232 e-mail: boschoek@mweb.co.za |
