Isandlwana Lodge

Luxury accommodation carved into the iNyani rock foundations situated in the very heart of the Royal hunting ground of the Zulu Kings.

Isandlwana Lodge offers a rare glimpse into the life and customs of the Zulu people. In addition to dramatic battle field tours there are walking trails, horseriding, photographic trips, birding tours and cultural events.

The lodge has attractively furnished bedroom, each with a privat balcony and stunning views of the amphitheatre of the second battle of the Anglo Zulu War, which took place 22.01.1879. The Battle of Rorke's Drift, made famous by the film "Zulu", took place a short distance away.

Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift battlefield tours are led by Rob Gerrard, author and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, or one of his associates. Other Anglo Zulu and Anglo Boer War tours are available.

The next most popular activity to battlefield tours is the Zulu Village Safari, a walking tour led by a qualified, licensed Zulu guide who takes guests into a typical home, the church, schools or clinic, and to see a Sangoma (diviner).

Enjoy candlelit dining on tables made from African woods set off by high-back chairs covered in iNguni cowhide. Whether relaxing at the pool, socialising with guests in the intimate lounge, or enjoying the view from every vantage point, Isandlwana affords a rare opportunity to experience a place remarkable history and culture.
