Midmar Dam and nature reserve, with its large expanse of fresh water, extensive meandering shore line, open grasslands, good road network, outdoors action and recreation facilities makes it an exciting family destination.

Visitors can visit the wildlife park, which features a variety of antelope and small game species.

The dam hosts a number of sports events, and during weekends and peak periods bicycles, windsurfers, canoes and yachts can be hired and launch tours and sunset cruises can be booked by prior arrangement.

The camp features 14 two-bed self-catering chalets, 13 four-bed chalets with two bedrooms, three five-bed chalets with two bedrooms and two six-bed chalets with three bedrooms. All the chalets include a lounge/dining room, fully equipped kitchen and barbecue facilities. One of the six-bed chalets caters for disabled visitors.

The camp also has sixteen four-bed rustic cabins with communal ablution facilities.
