Conveniently situated on the R103, the Bierfassl offers simple cuisine, warm hospitality and an exciting play area for children. At the Bierfassl patrons can sit either on a shady verandah and spacious lawns overlooking the rolling countryside, or get cosy inside the wood-panelled pub and restaurant, with log fires that are conducive to sipping on gluwhein. Originally a railway ganger's cottage built at the turn of the century, and thereafter a farm-house, the property was purchased by Rawdons Hotel in 1997, and the Bierfassl was established. Run by Sean and Rebecca Wakeford since 1999, much of the original infrastructure is intact, from the Oregon floors and sash windows to the back-to-back fireplace that provides warmth needed during the Nottingham Road winters.
