Here game roams freely and environmental education can take place at the wetland, in the indigenous forest or simply alongside one of the dams.Situated in the beautiful heartland of the Kwazulu-Natal Midlands of South Africa, Treverton consists of a Preparatory School (grades 0 to 7) and a College (Grades 8 to 12, and Post Matric) providing an educational environment like no other in South Africa for girls and boys. Treverton is dedicated to giving young adults a head-start in life which is relevant and appropriate to today's fast moving, ever-changing world. Treverton Preparatory School offers an extremely balanced educational experience encompassing the academic, cultural, sporting and outdoor - all embraced by a strong Christian ethos. The Prep is open to students from Grade 000 and follows the KwaZulu-Natal curriculum designed to prepare pupils for a successful transition to College life. Importance is placed on an individual's maturity in coping with new challenges. Emphasis is placed on developing skills and providing opportunities for critical thinking and problem solving. From Grade 6 onwards (and especially in Grade 7), there is a particular focus on environmental education, using the richness of Kwazulu-Natal's topography, historical sites, nature reserves and cities as a natural classroom for studies "in the field". Whatever is learned outside of the classroom is then systematized in presentations prepared in one of the Prep's computer centres, using the 21st century technology available. The Prep has its own dam and environmental education centre and also makes extensive use of the Treverton Wildlife Area. Year-appropriate environmental studies are undertaken throughout a pupil's Prep years. Treverton College is an academic school and is proud of its fine academic record over many years. Treverton has achieved a 100% Senior Certificate pass rate since 1997 with more than 80% of our Grade 12 class achieving University passes in each of the past five years Pupils are encouraged to participate in the wide variety of sports available at Treverton.
